Hi Serge, I was disappointed to see that IB is welcoming the team to “Shore Up” the border against the migrants traveling North through Mexico, still weeks away (and not a threat). While I am in full support of our military, I would hope as our Mayor, that rather than welcome this influx of soldiers to assist border patrol that it could be suggested to the government that this deployment might be of far more use to the American people by helping out the forestry service and those Californians in dire need during these devastating fires. Just some food for thought… Thank you for your service. Warm regards, Erika

    Is this true???

HEY EVERYONE!!! I don’t write much on facebook but there is a city council meeting in Imperial Beach going forward on Wednesday the 14th where Serge Dedina and Mark West and company want to eminent domain the land next to the beach. (4 blocks back)! That means over the next 5-10 years taking all of the land with no value given and charging rent to the owners who lost their land. THIS IS REAL, NO JOKE. They are also proposing a Sand Tax to replenish the sand and if no sand is needed they intend on using the money on how they please. The agenda was not advertised and was placed deep in the notes so no one would catch on. I am sounding the alarm right now because their intention is to keep taking land as the feel when the water rises. They could go back as far as they want. So this includes all the businesses in IB and everyone who lives in this city is affected. You weren’t supposed to know about this meeting because they were going to pass it with the 100% democrat council with no feedback from the residents. They are going to steal our land. I cant believe that Serge Dedina is doing this but everyone go to the meeting!! Its important for the residents of IB and Businesses wanting to open in town.

Hi – I wanted to ask you about your stand on short term rentals. I live on Evergreen Avenue, straight up from the pier. This is my only home and my primary residence. I had hoped in semi-retirement that I would be able to AirBnB or VRBO my house while I travel for a month or so a year. I would like to be able to rent my home not only to cover the expenses while I am away which would make it possible for me to travel, but also so that the house is occupied, and most importantly, to have my cats looked after while I am away. I understand I am only allowed to rent it for a period of 30 days or more, but it is highly unlikely that one person is going to rent my house for 30 days. I would like to know if the code could be amended to cover situations such as mine, where the home is occupied as a primary residence for the majority of they year but can be rented out for short term rentals for a maximum period of time per year – say 4 or 6 weeks. Is that something you would support? Thank you

Dear Mr Dedina. I am writing this letter to you with regards to the conditions at Bayside Steam Academy. My Daughter is a student there and am very happy so far with the Staff and Teachers but my concern is the influx of spiders and ants and mosquitos that We as Parents have to fight off every day as We drop off and pick up Our children .My Daughter has both of her legs full of spider bites and I have mosquitos bites and the alarm that prompted this letter is a fellow Parent was admitted to the hospital last nite after getting bit by mosquitos in the am as She was dropping off her Son and had to receive 8 cortisone injections and now She is contemplating changing schools.I went to the Front Office to talk to the Secretary about ordering a school shirt and as I was talking to the Mom about her ordeal a mosquito flew in to the office and flew right by the Mom scaring her.I dont want her to leave her Son and my Daughter are good friends but i dont want her health to be at jeopardy because of Bayside

    Hey Serge,

I’d love to buy a yard sign of “re-elect Serge Dedina” (I remember last time they were blue with Surfhenge) to post at my front yard – we’re on a corner house Louden and Grove so tons of people walk by on their way to and from the estuary. Let me know what the best route to get one is!

    Thanks,

    Josh

Serge, I just wanted to congratulate you on winning the mayoral election at Imperial Beach. Please give my regards to Emily as well (and to your sons, though they weren’t yet around when we met in Baja.

I have not been back to Baja recently, but am spending a lot of time in Buenos Aires and Patagonia (both sides of the border).

Hi Joe, thanks - actually it’s a Presto cooker, and I can get the gasket for $ 4 via ereplacementparts.com -

I just started using my laptop an hour ago, since I ran Avast antivirus scan all night to nab two infections that quickly made it impossible to highlight and copy texts.

Serge Dedina, 50, and his female campaign manager talked with Sondra and me on our porch — lived here 37 years — alert, gentle, grounded, lucid, earnest, practical, a natural leader — so now his sign’s on our corner… I just spent some time on his excellent website — I’ll be contacting all my friends here — do you know him?

    Serge,

You have less than 2 months before the election.

I’m no expert, but voters need a clear idea of what you stand for.

You need to represent renters which means being tough on absentee owners and property speculators. We don’t want property speculators in IB. For example, the apartments across Seacost Dr. from the Forum, are a disgrace.

You need to represent middle- and low-income families who rent here or visit the beach. Convenient parking is a problem, so free parking and a free shuttle from the high school is needed on weekends.

The beach is dirty. I see city employees picking up trash on Seacoast, but never on the beach.

You need to encourage small businesses that will serve families who live here or visit the beach.

You need to fight noise which ruins IB: motorcycles, car alarms, car radios, drunk people yelling at 1 am. IB has a nuisance culture which needs to change.

Jim Janney represents money. Emphasize that.

    Good luck on November 4.

    Derek

A while back we talked and you were concerned about the expansion of the SEAL base north of IB. You were worried about the increase in traffic along Palm Ave when this happened. Since the only entrance was back of El Tap. I just talked to one of the senior SEALS (my friend) and he told me they are going to open up a major entrance to this base way south from the Strand. Keep on pluggin’.

I publish a website that’s goal is to promote IB to be the best it can be.

www.DigImperialBeach.com, if you have the time I was hoping you could post on our blog or you could do a story about your past achievements in IB and what you hope to achieve while in office. I would like to keep it all positive. In fairness, I will offer your opponent the same but you have my support! I grew up and have lived at or neat the beach most of my life. Thank you! Paul Spear

    HEY

SO EXCITED ABOUT YOUR RUN FOR MAYOR. WISH I LIVED THERE SO I COULD VOTE FOR YOU.

DON’T KNOW IF THIS WOULD HELP BUT I HAVE WRITTEN A QUICK ENDORSEMENT FROM AN OUTSIDE BUSINESS PERSON’S POINT OF VIEW.

    DEAR VOTING PUBLIC:

HBO CAME TO YOUR GREAT TOWN TO FILM A TV SHOW CALLEDJOHN FROM CINCINNATI” IN 2006/7.

THERE ARE ALWAYS ISSUES WITH A COMPANY AS LARGE AS OURS INVADING TO FILM BUT SERGE WAS BOTH THE PROTECTOR AND THE PROMOTER OF IMPERIAL BEACH.

HE LISTENED TO WHAT WE WANTED TO DO AND MADE SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO ACCOMPLISH IT-ALWAYS WITH THE CITY’S AND LOCAL BUSINESS OWNERS’ INTERESTS IN MIND.

HE MEDIATED MORE THAN ONE DEBATE FOR ME DURING MY TIME AS A LOCATIONS REP FOR HBO. BOTH PARTIES ENDED UP THE RICHER FOR HIS INVOLVEMENT.

I GREW TO ADMIRE HIM AS A FAMILY MAN AND AS A CITIZEN. HIS GOAL WAS ALWAYS TO DO THE BEST FOR ALL CONCERNEDAND HE ACHIEVED IT IN EVERY INSTANCE.

YOUR VOTE COULD NOT BE WORTH MORE IF IT GOES FOR SERGE DEDINA.
